Check the zone before the cast
Jervis Bay Marine Park is the main local overlay. Recreational fishing is allowed in large parts of the marine park, but sanctuary zones are no-take areas and local restrictions can change by creek, beach, island or reef.
Use the NSW Jervis Bay Marine Park zoning map and FishSmart before fishing near Huskisson, Currambene Creek, Moona Moona Creek, Hyams Beach, Bowen Island, Plantation Point or any mapped boundary. A small move along the shoreline can change the activity answer.

Booderee and Bowen Island
Booderee is not just another NSW beach stop. Booderee's official fishing page says line fishing is popular in park waters, but aquatic invertebrates and rock-platform species are protected. It also prohibits spearfishing and spearguns in the park, and jet skis are not permitted in park waters.
If your trip uses Booderee by land or boat, check the current park-pass and permit wording before arriving. A park pass is an access requirement, not a fishing licence, but it can still decide whether the trip is lawful.
The Jervis Bay Marine Park map also flags special Commonwealth-water controls around Bowen Island. Use the official map rather than guessing from a beach-access point, and do not assume line fishing, anchoring, spearfishing and collecting share the same answer.
Bag, size and protected species
Where fishing or collecting is allowed, NSW saltwater bag, size, method and protected-species rules still apply. Jervis Bay does not turn a mixed catch into one simple bay limit.
