Queensland SIPS Permit Fees 2026

What changed from 1 July 2026

The Queensland Government SIPS buy page says most fees and charges increased by 3.4% on 1 July 2026. The current Stocked Impoundment Permit Scheme prices are:

The concession annual amount is for the card types listed on the official SIPS page. Check the live Queensland Government page before paying, because SIPS is an indexed permit and the accepted cards are part of the official wording.

Who needs SIPS

All persons 18 years and over must hold a permit when line fishing in SIPS impoundments. Children and teenagers under 18 do not require the permit, but Queensland fishing rules, possession limits, closures and local safety checks still apply.

A SIPS permit is not a general Queensland fishing licence. It does not apply to every stocked-looking dam, and it does not apply to ordinary ocean, beach, estuary or river fishing unless the water is an impoundment in the Stocked Impoundment Permit Scheme.

Where the permit applies

One SIPS permit allows line fishing at every impoundment in the Stocked Impoundment Permit Scheme. You do not need a separate permit for each SIPS impoundment, but you do need to confirm the water is currently listed.

How to buy and carry proof

Queensland lists online, phone and selected Australia Post purchase options. The official page says permits may be emailed, texted, or issued as paper receipt proof depending on how they are purchased.

When fishing in a stocked impoundment, carry your permit proof with you. The Queensland Government lists digital email, digital SMS and paper receipt proof, and says the permit must be produced on request from the Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol.

Fees do not replace rules

The SIPS payment only answers the permit question. Before keeping fish, check Queensland freshwater limits, closures and any water-specific conditions. Stocked impoundments can still have possession limits, species rules, boat or access rules and local conditions.
